In a recent interview with Arise TV, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, highlighted discrepancies in the NPower payment list, revealing beneficiaries who shouldn’t be part of the program.
Edu disclosed that upon assuming office, her ministry encountered numerous challenges within the NPower program, prompting a comprehensive reevaluation. She identified several issues, including individuals registered beyond the allocated program capacity, delayed payments, and beneficiaries receiving funds without providing services.
To address these concerns, a committee was established, headed by the ministry’s secretary, tasked with investigating and providing recommendations. The initial report has been received.
Furthermore, Minister Edu emphasized the commitment of the Tinubu administration to lift 133 million Nigerians out of poverty by 2030, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. She outlined innovative approaches to achieving this goal, aiming to bring at least 20 million Nigerians out of poverty within the next year.
